End September 2015 Updates

Well well well, almost 2 months has just passed since my last update! Time really flies fast when one is busy. As mentioned earlier, I am spending quite some time with my hobbies and basically really no time to monitor the market which was not doing well. Did purchased some stocks but was disappointed when each time after I though the price is good enough and bought some, it went south again. But that's part of trading life, one can't just buy low sell high always.

So let's look at my portfolio as of end of September, has changed the track from number of lots to number of shares:

Total invested capital is S$79,279.72.
Total dividend collected to date is S$1,936.68.

Total current value is S$73,508.19 based on the closing price on the last day of September, a 7.28% loss on paper.

So you can see that between my last monthly update in April till September, I have invested almost another $29k, approaching $80k mark soon. This blog is also one year old now and since then my portfolio size has increased from initial $20k to current almost $80k.

Shall continue my journey of keeping more stocks for more dividends income! Thank you for reading and wish everyone many more good years ahead! :P

Where is the update?

You can see how lazy I am from the frequency of my blog update. I have missed out on May, June & July update of my portfolio. Well, I have too many excuses to list out but ultimately it is just the laziness in me that is preventing me from doing the regular update, haha.

Anyway during this period, I am spending lots of my time on my various hobbies, and spending some bit of money too. I have not been trading much, even for short term trading. Had bought a few stocks to add into my portfolio. Recent trending down in the market has provided many price attractive entries for me. Of coz when I thought the price is right and buy the share, the price just goes further down. My whole portfolio is actually in red now but does that bother me? To be honest, yes, it does, who is not? But it only bothers me for that few seconds. One won't know when it is the best time to buy, everyone would like to buy low and sell high, isn't it? Anyway I am buying to keep them for long term, so the market swing should not bother me much and I am not suppose to check the pricing daily, haha. I will just try to buy some and average down my stocks buy in pricing and wait for dividends to come in.

I have a fellow colleague who is badly affected by recent market performance. Dare not ask him too much unless he shares with me. I suspect he may not have the holding power to wait for the stock price to recover, if it happens, from what he had shared with me so far. He is more into short term trading type I guess, didn't really ask him much as I don't really like to talk about trading with others since I am not the expert anyway. I also won't know how they will digest the info from me. I had a bad experience with one of my ex-colleagues many years back when I shared with him my thought on one of the shares that I was monitoring then. He actually went on to trade on it based on what I had shared. I didn't trade it as my thought on it changed after that. We didn't manage to talk about it and hence I also didn't share with him my latest update. Next I know is that he made quite a big loss on that trade. He told me about it but not to blame me as he understand that one is to be responsible for their own trading but it really make me feel very bad about it. Since then I have avoided talking about trading with anyone. I always tell my friend, I don't really read those share analysis that I always receive in my email, because the analysis is as good as the word formed with the first 4 letters of the word itself, so it is just the same logic for my own analysis, hehe :P

Ok, enough of bs from me. I will share my portfolio update again in my next posting. Cheers!

End April 2015 Updates

For the first time I am fast to do an update on my portfolio performance, haha... have more free time now to do my own stuff recently. Today I take time off from my work to run some errands and to meet up with my good friends for lunch later. It is always nice not having to work on a weekday. Just had my breakfast at my favourite coffeeshop, watching others rushing to work at a nearby train station. :P

Weather doesn't look good actually, tiny rain drops appeared when I was making my way home. Hopefully it will not rain later but chances are not high. Not sure if haze is coming back, smell a bit funny.

Well, back to my portfolio. As posted previously, F & N was added to it last week, making my portfolio looks like this at the end of April:

Total dividend collected to date is S$382.58.

Total current value is S$54,400.00 based on the closing price on the last day of April, a 8.08% gain on paper.

No dividend was collected during the month of April.

Have finally cross the 50k mark for my portfolio, with other stuff going on currently, I think the invested capital amount will remain as it is for quite sometime. There may be 1 more potential candidate to be added but only when the price is right, as usual. Alternatively, I may just add more lots from the current stock list, already 12 on it with a good spread I think. Not much cash on hand now to allocate to this portfolio.

Look forward to May as there will be dividends to be collected from 6 of the stocks in my portfolio. Cheers!

F&N - A Familiar Name

Added Fraser and Neave into my stock portfolio; most of us who grow up in Singapore will know this name, F&N. I can see many items in my house that are related to this company; Magnolia milk, Fruit Tress Fresh, 100 Plus, Seasons Grass Jelly, even children assignment books from Marshall Cavendish or the MC online etc, are related to each other.

Of course I don't just buy this stock due to me being a consumer of their products, there are some other reasons too which, as mentioned before, are only known to me, not to share online. Not in a position to offer any such advice, hehe...

There are still some stocks in my radar, waiting for them to come within my striking range, so wish everyone has a great week ahead, long weekend round the corner and that means an end to another month again, that's fast! 1/3 of Year 2015 gone! Time don't wait for us, so better make full use of it! :)

End March 2015 Updates

Wasn't able to do any update or even to keep track of my portfolio in the past couple of months due to work commitment. Was assigned a new work task that suck up my time and energy, always difficult to start something new and to make a lazy person like me to really focus all my energy into it, hahaha... but glad everything is working smoothly now, a job well done and appreciated by others! Always happy to help others making their job easier and everyone becomes happier. :)

So back to my portfolio performance, have to skip update on February since now already coming to end of April, how time flies when one is busy. With not much energy left on most days and also not much time to look at stock market during working hours, I have somehow lost touch with the market. Not even a single trade was carried out during this period and no new stocks added in my portfolio. Currently monitoring few stocks that I am thinking of adding them into it or maybe do some short term trades.

Total dividend collected is S$314.58 in February while no dividend in March, one of the 'dry' months.

Cheers!

End January 2015 Updates

Time flies and we are already more than halfway into the second month of Year 2015. We are approaching the Chinese New Year, a time to celebrate and a time to get even more lazy for me, no mood to do anything constructive but to just idle my time away and immerse in the festive mood. :P

No new comer to my portfolio, stocks in my watch list is not within my ideal buy target pricing. I'm in no hurry to enter into any new trade if the price is not what I like as usual, just follow my own plan. Trading can be boring but seeing extra money being made from it is not, isn't it great?

So ladies and gentlemen, here is my latest stock portfolio, no change yet again for the month of January:

Dividend collect in January is S$68.00 from Singtel.

I would also like to share how my portfolio performed last year.

Summary of my portfolio result for Year 2014
- Average Invested Capital Per Month: S$12,552.28
- Total Dividends Collected: S$581.78
- Annual Yield Return: 4.63%

A small start for me towards a better future.

With that, I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a
Happy & Prosperous Chinese New Year! Huat ah!

End December 2014 Updates

Just realized I have not even update my monthly results for December 2014! And 2 more trading days, January 2015 will be over. Can see how a lazy bum I am! I realized it only after reading a few updates from other bloggers on their portfolio, haha... well, late better than never!

So here is my latest stock portfolio, no change since I added Cache in the list:

Total invested capital is S$44,705.65.

Total current value is S$45,960.00 based on the closing price on the last day of December (luckily I still keep a copy of the closing prices!), a 2.81% gain.

Dividend collect in December is S$112.50; S$62.50 from Cambridge Industrial Trust and S$50 from SATS.

Recently didn't have any 'feel' to buy in more stocks to keep. Only bought a few stocks which are for short term trading; stocks that don't fit into my requirement of 'good' dividend returns but stocks that I think I can make some money from, so far so good. Although the returns from such trading is much better than this portfolio that I have here, the strategy is different. So basically I have this portfolio for dividend returns that I'm sharing in this blog, something that I don't go and monitor that closely, just buy and hold until the dividend yield % is not attractive or whatever. Another portion of my money will be for short term trading; buy when I see the price is right, sell when the price is in my favour, and pocket the profit. This is a more risky and with the higher risk comes better returns. However my frequency of such short term trading is low; few trades per month and even none for some months. Even though I said short term, some trades I did hold for months, just to squeeze some profit out of them. Overall it still worthwhile in term of the returns I am getting, just more time and effort needed to hunt and monitor these trades.

So will Year 2015 be a better year? I think everyone should always work towards making each year a better year than the previous one, so that we can progress. It may be late, since the first month of the year is almost over, but like I always like to say, better late than never! I do wish everyone to have a much better year ahead than last year! :)
